SALMA & NASSER
Original Music, Sound Design & Mix for Multichannel Immersive Installation
Presented as part of the SANA QATAR exhibition supported by the Qatar Ministry of Culture, this immersive installation was conceived as a multi-screen animated film designed for a younger audience. Developed by Indissoluble with direction by media designer Tomás Navarro and AI animation by artist Diego Vázquez, the piece unfolds across a five-projector multichannel setup, creating an expansive audiovisual environment that surrounds the viewer.

A Fable Rooted in Cultural Heritage
The story follows two siblings, Salma and Nasser, who venture into the desert driven by curiosity and discover the roots of Qatari cultural heritage through encounters with symbolic animals of the region: the camel, the oryx, and the falcon. Conceived as a contemporary audiovisual fable, the installation introduces younger audiences to the traditions and natural symbols that shape Qatar’s cultural identity.
Research-Driven Music Composition
Irradian Sound composed the original score, sound design, and final mix for the installation. The musical language is deeply rooted in the modes and scales of Qatari musical tradition, requiring extensive research into regional musical structures in order to develop an authentic sonic palette. This investigative process is central to Irradian Sound’s methodology, allowing each project to develop a distinctive sonic identity grounded in its cultural context.
Sound Design for a Multichannel Narrative Space
Music and sound design were developed as an integrated system to support the narrative flow of the installation and enhance the spatial experience of the five-screen environment. Every element was crafted from scratch, avoiding sound libraries and instead building a bespoke sonic palette tailored to the story’s atmosphere and visual language.
While the installation version presented in the exhibition includes Arabic narration, the portfolio presents a trailer version of the piece, highlighting the musical composition and immersive sound design developed for the project.
