OUMUAMUA
Original Music & Sound Design for Fashion Film
OUMUAMUA is a fictional short film deeply rooted in the most avant-garde tradition of contemporary fashion film. Conceived as a dystopian audiovisual piece, the project explores themes of identity, desire, and the end of the world through a hyper-technological and futuristic visual language. The film immerses the viewer in the universe of renowned fashion artist and metal couture specialist Manuel Albarrán, whose work transforms rigid materials into sculptural, futuristic creations. More than a fashion designer, Albarrán is a true artisan, crafting visionary pieces that blur the boundaries between fashion, art, and performance. His unmistakable aesthetic world—populated by androgynous figures, dystopian heroines, and bold expressions of desire—has dressed and inspired internationally acclaimed artists such as Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé, Lil Nas X, and Chlöe x Halle, among others. His work stands at the intersection of craftsmanship, futurism, and radical self-expression. Directed by Iker Iturria, a multi-awarded film director, producer, and creative director, OUMUAMUA continues his long-standing exploration of cinematic language, fashion, and music-driven storytelling. His work has been recognized at numerous international film festivals, consolidating his reputation within the contemporary audiovisual landscape.
Music & Sound Design for a Dystopian Audiovisual Narrative
Irradian Sound was commissioned to compose the original music and sound design for OUMUAMUA. The project required a handcrafted sonic identity capable of supporting a powerful visual narrative centered on collapse, transformation, and the search for meaning beyond a distant horizon. Our creative process focused on deeply understanding the essence of the film in order to uncover its emotional core and rhythmic pulse. Musical scales and modes were carefully designed to reinforce the narrative weight of each scene, while sound design elements were seamlessly integrated into the film’s visual structure.
Immersive Sound Design & Spatial Experience
Sound plays a central narrative role in OUMUAMUA, enhancing atmosphere, tension, and emotional impact. The result is a fully immersive audiovisual experience, where music and sound design elevate the film’s visual intensity without overpowering it. The project features a 5.1 surround mix by renowned sound artist Koldo Corella, delivering an exceptional level of spatial depth and sonic precision. Despite being an independent production, OUMUAMUA achieves a refined and high-end audiovisual quality, reflecting Irradian Sound’s commitment to craftsmanship, technical finesse, and immersive sound design for audiovisual environments.
OUMUAMUA stands as a clear example of Irradian Sound’s approach to music and sound design for fashion films and immersive media, where concept-driven composition, sonic identity, and narrative precision converge to create emotionally resonant audiovisual experiences.
