COCA COLA
Sound Design & Mix for New Year’s Eve Mapping Show (Madrid)
Coca-Cola commissioned Irradian Sound to deliver the sound design and final mix for a large-scale projection mapping show presented on New Year’s Eve in Puerta del Sol, Madrid — one of Spain’s most iconic and widely broadcast public celebrations. Commissioned by Viscuit.es with postproduction by NEXcommunity, the project required a high-impact sonic approach capable of translating across a major outdoor event environment while supporting the pacing and spectacle of the mapping narrative.
A Contemporary Take on a Cultural Anthem
At the core of the piece was a cover of “La cuenta atrás” by Mecano, reimagined with sound design arrangements tailored to the mapping’s visual language. Our work focused on integrating sound design as part of the musical structure — reinforcing transitions, accenting key moments, and expanding the track into an immersive audiovisual experience suitable for a large-scale public presentation.
Sound Design and Mixing for Large-Scale Outdoor Playback
Following the same production criteria as the Coca-Cola bottle roadshow, we shaped a bespoke sonic palette for the event without relying on generic library assets. Through careful sound sculpting and detailed mixing, we ensured clarity, depth, and spatial coherence across an outdoor playback system, maintaining impact and intelligibility despite the scale and complexity of the venue.
A High-Profile Audiovisual Moment
The final result supports the magnitude of the New Year’s Eve setting in Puerta del Sol, amplifying the mapping’s energy while keeping music and sound design tightly unified. Designed for a national moment of celebration, the work reinforces Coca-Cola’s presence within a highly symbolic cultural event and delivers a seamless, emotionally charged audiovisual experience.
