Original Score & Sound Design for Territory Studio Production Reel

Territory Studio commissioned Irradian Sound to compose the original score and sound design for a production reel created to showcase their work on Ad Astra — the feature film starring Brad Pitt. Designed as a high-end piece for major film companies, the reel needed to accurately reflect the tone, tension, and cinematic language of the final movie while highlighting Territory’s futuristic screen graphics and interface technology developed for the film.

A Cinematic Sonic Language Aligned with the Film

Our approach focused on translating the atmosphere of Ad Astra into a cohesive sonic identity that could support the reel’s narrative flow and visual intensity. The score and sound design were developed together as a single sonic structure, ensuring that rhythm, texture, and tonal weight felt consistent with the film’s universe rather than functioning as generic promotional audio.

Sound Created from Scratch

All music and sound elements were created from scratch, without the use of sound libraries. Through a bespoke sonic palette built specifically for this piece — combining original composition with handcrafted and digitally designed sound elements — we shaped a sound world that reinforced the reel’s cinematic authority and technological precision.

Enhancing the Visual Storytelling of Futuristic Interfaces

Since Territory’s work centered on the postproduction of futuristic screens and interfaces shown throughout the film, the sound design emphasized detail, motion, and material presence, supporting the visual storytelling and enhancing the sense of realism and immersion. The final result is a refined audiovisual presentation that communicates both the emotional tone of the film and the sophistication of Territory Studio’s craft.
